This area of the Gers holds many music festivals during the year, many of which are free; others charge a small entry fee.
One of the most well known one is ‘Jazz in Marciac’, held during the first three weeks of August.
The town of Marciac is transformed by numerous eating venues with world wide cuisine, stalls selling items of art,
jewellery, clothing and spices, fill the streets making the town come alive.
In the central square is a stage and everyday groups of musicians give free concerts making the town ring with music.
Famous artists play each year in the main arena, such as Harry Connick Junior, Diana Krall, Jamie Cullum to name but three.
Cardeillac is approximately 15 minutes away by car.
Marciac also has a lovely lake that is renowned for good fishing and its floating restaurant.
There are many lakes and rivers where fishing is allowed for a reasonably priced licence.
In the next larger town of Mirande the annual 4 day Country and Western festival is held.
If you enjoy line dancing, wearing anything with a fringe and look good in a Stetson, then this is for you.
In 2013 four artists from Dallas appeared, these included Patrick Duffy and Linda Grey.
There is a Latino weekend in Vic Fezensac which takes over the whole town, so if the more sultry approach to dance is your favourite,
then this is a must and you can of course join in.
Tarbes also holds a Tango festival in the summer.
